On July 18th, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne E. Derse presented certificates of appreciation to Azerbaijani peacekeepers returning from Iraq,Trend reports with reference to the press-release of the USA Embassy in Baku.
At the ceremony held at the Peacekeeping Brigade Headquarters, Ambassador Derse noted that she too was a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
"I appreciate your dedication and the sacrifices that you have made in completing your service in Iraq, she told.
She stressed the importance of Azerbaijan's role in peacekeeping and advancing democracy worldwide. Several peacekeepers commented on the excellent cooperation between U.S.
troops and Azerbaijani peacekeepers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
