Azerbaijan President, Ilham Aliyev is expected to pay a visit to Switzerland on January 24-26. Immediately after the completion of this visit, the Azerbaijan President is expected to pay an official visit to France on January 29-31. Novruz Mammadov, the Chief of the International Relations of the Azerbaijan Presidential Administration has exclusively informed Trend with this piece of information.
Mr. Mammadov said that in Switzerland, the Azerbaijan President is expected to take part in the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum to be held in the Swiss mountainous town of Davos. This Forum is occupied with discussing economic, political, energetic, as well as issues connected with global security, said Mr. Mammadov. He also said that the participation of the Azerbaijan President in the Forum determined the priorities of Azerbaijan foreign policy for 2007. Azerbaijan is dynamically developing its domestic and foreign policy and raising both to the European and World level, and different European and World circles have already admitted it, said Mr. Mammadov.
The Chief of the International Relations of the Azerbaijan Presidential Administration also said that the President was going to hold some bilateral meetings within the forthcoming Forum.
Mr. Mammadov said that the official visit of the Azerbaijan President to France was also a proof that the ratings of Azerbaijan and its President is set up to increase. According to Mr. Mammadov, the determination of the status of Nagorno-Karabakh within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, returning of refugees and IDP to their lands wherefrom they were expelled as a result of the Armenian aggression, Nagorno-Karabakh joining the process of development as a part of Azerbaijan, resolution of the conflict have always been the priorities of the foreign policy carried by Azerbaijan and its President. All the above-mentioned will remain as the priorities for Azerbaijan in 2007. He said that due to this reason, the Azerbaijan President would depart for France in the very beginning of 2007, to the country which is one of the three chairs of OSCE Minsk Group. The Azerbaijan President is expected to discuss the issue on the peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with French President, Jacques Chira
c again. Mr. Chirac follows the negotiations very attentively, and the visit is a symbolic sign said Mr. Mammadov.
