Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / The head of the Department Head in Language Studies Institutions in the Azerbaijani National Academy of Sciences, who is also the chief editor of Tolishi Sado newspaper, is charged of national popularization due to popularization of Talish sportsmen.
According to the chief editor's lawyer, Ramiz Mammadov, the investigation launched over the fact on Novruzali Mammadov, the chief editor, and Elman Guliyev, the responsible secretary, was completed.
N.Mammadov and E.Guliyev was arrested at the beginning of February. They were charged with contravening Article 274 (high treason) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Presently, both are kept in the Investigation cell of the National Security Ministry.
"The appeal by Mammadov to international organizations due to violate rights of Talish caused negative image about Azerbaijan. The popularization of Talish sportsmen means popularization of Talishism. Mammadov held religious popularization," the lawyer said.
The case will be submitted to the Heinous Crime Court in the near future. Mammadov has serious health problems. The investigation over Mammadov and Guliyev, arrested in February 2007, was held by the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry.
