DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 25. Trade between Russia and Tajikistan reached over $454.2 million from January through March 2024, Trend reports.
According to Tajikistan's Presidential Agency for Statistics, the statistic is 21 percent higher than in the same period in 2023. Tajikistan's imports from Russia reached $433.1 million, while exports were $21.1 million.
As a result of increasing commercial activity, Russia has emerged as Tajikistan's primary trading partner, accounting for 21.5 percent of overall trade volumes. Tajikistan's total foreign trade volume during the period exceeded $2.1 billion, representing a more than 30 percent rise over the same months of 2023.
Aside from Russia, Tajikistan's other major commercial partners include China (19.9 percent of trade) and Kazakhstan (15.5 percent).
The country's foreign trade turnover in 2023 exceeded $8.3 billion, which is a 13.9 percent rise compared to 2022. The country traded with 111 countries. Russia remained Tajikistan's biggest trading partner, with a turnover of more than $2.9 billion, closely followed by China ($1.5 billion).
