Grand master Shahriyar Mammadyarov gained his first victory over grand master R.Markus from Serbia and Montenegro at the 3rd round of the tournament A1of the international chess festival for prizes of Aeroflot in Moscow.
He scored 2.0 points and approached the leading group of 12 chess-players, ranking 1-12 with 2.5 points, Trend reports.
Other Azerbaijani grand master Guliyev played in draw and scored 1.5 points.
