Japan allocates $218 million to Uzbekistan

Japan intends to provide a loan up to 18.067 billion yen ($218 million) for the implementation of the project on railway development, memorandum on economic cooperation between the Japanese Foreign Ministry and the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.

The loan will be issued to the implementation of the Karshi-Termez Railway Electrification project, the memorandum reads.

The financial resources will be issues to Uzbekistan within the Official Development Assistance (ODA) programme. So far, Japan has extended ODA Loans totaling 124.975 billion yen to Uzbekistan.

The memorandum said both sides will continue to explore the possibilities to provide ODA Loans for realization of socio-economic infrastructure development utilizing Japanese technologies.
