Uzbek President Islam Karimov approved the feasibility study of the construction project of the second production unit at the Dehkanabad potash fertilizer plant (Kashkadarya, south of Uzbekistan) worth $254.7 million, a source in the governmental circles of the republic told Trend today.
The construction of the second production unit will increase capacity by three times - up to 600,000 tons of potash per year. About 350,000 tons will be exported. The construction is scheduled to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Uzhimprom has signed contracts with the Russian company "Western-Ural Machine Building Concern" (Perm) and CITIC International Cooperation worth $238.6 million.
