Iran, Kazakhstan to discuss purchase and transportation of grain

Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran Seyed Abbas Arakchi during his visit to Kazakhstan plans to discuss with his Kazakh counterpart Kairat Sarybai purchase and transportation of Kazakh grain through Iran. He said this on Monday at a news briefing at the Foreign Ministry of Kazakhstan.

"The issue of sale and purchase of Kazakh grain is one of the most important in economic cooperation between our countries. We are interested in buying your grain, and will continue to buy it in the future. Issue of transit of Kazakh grain through Iran to other countries is also important," Arakchi said.

Kazakhstan is among the world's largest grain exporters. In 2011 the republic had a record harvest - nearly 27 million tons of grain in net weight. Export potential was estimated at 15 million tons. Iran is one of the main importers of Kazakh grain.
