TOP 5 trade partners of Azerbaijan from Jan. through Apr. 2020 revealed

Azerbaijan’s trade turnover with its five main trade partners amounted to $3.9 billion from January through April 2020 or 58 percent of its total trade turnover, Trend reports referring to the country’s State Customs Committee.

Italy retained the status of Azerbaijan’s biggest trading partner with a turnover of $2.5 billion and a share of 26.3 percent. It is followed by Turkey - $1.5 billion (15.6 percent), Russia - $804 million (8.3 percent), China - $502.7 million (5.1 percent) and the US – $330.2 million (3.4 percent).

During the reporting period, Azerbaijan bought most of the products worth $610.4 million (share of the total import – 18 percent) from Russia. It is followed by Turkey - $503 million (14.8 percent), China - $425 million (12.5 percent), the US - $323.6 million (9.5 percent) and Germany - $179.4 million (5.3 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total imports was 60.3 percent.

Italy was again the main importer of Azerbaijani products in the reporting period. Some $2.4 billion (38.1 percent) of Azerbaijan’s total export accounted for Italy. It is followed by Turkey – $1 billion (16 percent), Israel - $310.7 million (4.9 percent), India –$284.2 million (4.5 percent) and Greece – nearly $228.1 million (3.6 percent).

The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total export was about 67.2 percent.

In general, Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations decreased by 16.8 percent and amounted to $9.6 billion in April 2020, compared to the same month of 2019.

From January through April 2020, the positive balance amounted to over $2.9 billion, which is 14.9 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
