By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

A dairy business via Belarusian investments will appear in Georgia, Ambassador of Georgia to Belarus Valeri Kvaratskhelia told reporters, Trend reports citing Georgian media.

The volume of investments of Belarusian business in Georgia today is small; however, in the future, the situation may change, the ambassador said.

“In the near future, a small dairy plant for production of Georgian cheeses will open with Belarusian investments,” the ambassador said.

Today the investment activity is limited due to the situation with the spread of coronavirus, Kvaratskhelia said adding that after the end of the pandemic, both Belarus and Georgia will attract more investments.

Georgia and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1994. Relations between the two countries began to develop rapidly after 2015, when President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko first paid an official visit to Tbilisi.

The turnover between the two countries in 2019 increased by 8.7 percent year-on-year. Belarusian products are in great demand in Georgia.

Tbilisi also increases the supply of goods to Belarus from year to year. In 2019, Georgia exported about 2.8 million bottles of Georgian wine to Belarus, which is 74 percent more than in 2018.
