Fruit, vegetables lead in Azerbaijan's export

The significant part of Azerbaijan's export accounted for fruit and vegetables worth $236.5 million from January through May 2020, Trend reports with reference to the Export Review of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) on July 1.

Fruits and vegetables are followed by cotton fiber exported in the total amount of $49.5 million, chemical products - $34.4 million, aluminum and its products - $31.5 million, ferrous metals and their products - $19.5 million, cotton yarn - $9.2 million, alcoholic and soft beverages - $5.7 million, and sugar – $5.9 million.

Export of electricity decreased by 26 percent, and raw cotton – by 40.1 percent compared to the same period of last year.

From January through May 2020, non-oil export of Azerbaijan decreased by 8.9 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to $721 million.

During the reporting period, non-oil products worth $271 million were exported to Russia, $144.3 million - to Turkey, $70.5 million - to Georgia, $71.5 million to Switzerland, and $23.6 million - to China.

In 2019, non-oil export of Azerbaijan exceeded $1.7 billion, which is $16 million, or 10 percent more compared to 2018.
