Uzbekistan increases butter production

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Aug. 8

By Ilkin Seyfaddini - Trend:

Uzbekistan increased natural butter production by 35 percent in the first half of 2020, compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

From January through June 2020, the production grew to 23.1 tons, while in the corresponding period of 2019 Uzbekistan produced 17,100 tons of the butter, the committee said.

More than 10 butter and fat-and-oil enterprises are engaged in the production of butter in Uzbekistan, the largest of which is Agro Bravo Ltd. that is capable of processing 60 tons of milk per day.

From the end of January 2019, the Uzbek government exempted milk processing enterprises from VAT, which helped to slightly slow down the rise in butter prices.

Uzbekistan imports natural butter from France, New Zealand, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine.
