Buy/sell operations at Iran Mercantile Exchange on the rise

A total of 939,000 tons of goods worth more than 123 trillion rials (about $2.92 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) last Iranian week (February 27 through March 4), Trend reports citing the IME’s official website.

This is an increase of 17 percent in terms of value and 19 percent in terms of volume compared to the preceding week (February 20 through February 24).

So, 789,000 tons of goods worth more than 105 trillion rials (about $2.5 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) in the preceding week.

According to the report, about 572,000 tons of goods worth about 75.7 trillion rials (about $1.8 billion) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of IME last week.

"Thus, 478,000 tons of steel, 260 tons of copper, 7,780 tons of aluminum, 200 tons of molybdenum sulfur, 30 tons of precious metal concentrate, 560 tons of zinc, 85,000 tons of iron ore, 200 tons of coke and 16 kg of gold bars were sold in this section," the report said.

In addition, more than 362,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth about 47.3 trillion rials (about $1.12 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME last Iranian week, the report said.

According to the report, 81,300 tons of vacuum bottom, 125,000 tons of bitumen, 75,200 tons of polymeric substances, 40,400 tons of chemicals, 21,000 tons of lube cut, 4,000 tons of base oil, 20 tons of argon, 400 tons of facades and 16,200 tons of sulfur were sold in this section.

Furthermore, 4,820 tons of various products worth 625 billion rials (about $14.8 million) were sold in the submarket section of the exchange.

“At the same time, 610 tons of dates worth 23.5 billion rials (about $561,000) were sold in the agricultural section of the Iran Mercantile Exchange,” the report said.
