TEHRAN, Iran, March 28. Iran is planning to
import 3.5 million tons of wheat to secure its strategic reserves,
said the head of the National Wheat Farmers Foundation Aligholi
Imani, Trend
reports citing ILNA.
"Iran will continue to import wheat in the current Iranian year
(started March 21, 2022) due to climate change," he said.
The country is expecting to produce more than 10 million tons of
wheat in the current Iranian year to reach self-sufficiency in
wheat production.
The government's guaranteed price for purchase of wheat is 115,000 rials (about $2.7) per kilo in the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2022).
