Finances minister authorized in signing of agreement with WB on bird flu' fighting

The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan has authorized Samir Sharifov, the Finances minister, in signing an agreement on use of funds saved from the credit approved under the World Banks Institutional Building Technical Assistance (IBTA-2) project for implementation of measures directed at fighting with bird flu. 3,560m SDR (some $5,130m.-5,140m), the government told Trend.

The Board of Directors of the World Bank has approved a memorandum on restructuring IBTA-2 credit.

The WB funds will be directed at the improvement of the veterinary service and human health provision. It is also planned to purchase necessary equipment, conduct of training, and the rehabilitation of laboratories. The major part of funds (75%) will be spent on purchase of equipment. Under the project it is planned to render technical assistance and design a communications strategy (awareness).
