A strategy on WB-Azerbaijan partnership in final coordination in the bank

A strategy on the World Bank-Azerbaijan partnership (2006-2009) is undergoing internal coordination at the level of heads of Department at the headquarters of the bank , the Baku office of the WB told Trend. Afterwards it will be presented to the consideration of the Board of Directors of the Baku which is to meet on 7 September 2006.

The date remains unchanged, though one of the reasons for delay of adoption of the partnership strategy, along with definition of the amount of privileged credits for Azerbaijan for 2007, is the draft State Program on Poverty Reduction and Stable Development, allocated for period till 2015. It is still under the consideration of the government, he W wants to put the strategy to the discussion at the Board of Directors along with the State Program.

The total budget of the strategy is estimated to approximately $1.2bn, of which, $79.4m will be allocated as privileged credits through the International Association for Development, while the rest the international Bank for Reconstruction and Development..

In accordance with the strategy, in future the bank plans finance the projects in the sphere of education, improvement of book-keeping, water supply system and sewerage, the development of railway network and registration of cadastre.
