Russia, Moscow, Баку / Trend , corr. Z. Novosvitskiy/ Yagub Eyyubov, the Fisrt Deputy Azerbaijan's Prime-Minister, has said in Moscow today that Azerbaijan's need in gas meters, which work is based upon the system of prepayment may reach 1 mln. units, Trend Special Correspondent reports.
According to him, this number will be necessary in case of the sucessfull introduction of such gas meters during the pilot project, being implemented in Ganja Region of Azerbaijan.
He noted that the meters within th pilot project would fisrt bought, and then, in the perspective, Azerbaijan may make them itself.
"Fisrt we are going to purchase them, and then, in the future, we may produce them in Azerbaijan," said Mr. Eyyubov.
According to "Azerigaz" CJSC, over 1300 gas meters made in accordance with the up-to-date French technology with using smart-cards have been installed in March, 2007. In 2007, "Azerigaz" is expected to install some 62000 such gas meters more in this Azerbaijani City.
