SPY PHOTOS: Mercedes SLK Facelift

( Worldcarfans ) - Is it the good results from Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes Formula 1 team that helped the designers at Mercedes to hold on to the Formula 1 nose for their smaller roadster SLK?

Looking at our spy photos, it's clear that the Formula 1 influence will survive the upcoming facelift. A facelift that will be showing a number of visible changes: the front bumper will get a new shape with some triangular bars beneath the nose to imitate the Silver Arrows, and bigger head lights and tail lights.

The current SLK interior is starting to show its age so the new version will get an updated interior to match the fresher looking outside. Engines will remain the known versions, but the 350 CGI with 292 bhp, known from the CLS might find its way into the SLK.

Rumours are also talking about a diesel version of the SLK, which will be important for the European market. We will have to wait for the car show in Frankfurt in September to see the results and then we also know if the diesel fans get their piece of roadster fun.

The photos are showing: The top photo has been computer generated to show the facelift without disguise. The remaining photos are showing prototypes in cold weather testing.
