Azerbaijan's State Agency on Alternative and Renewable Energy Sources of the Industry and Energy Ministry will present to the Presidential Administration proposals for changes in the country's legislation, Akim Badalov, head of the agency, said at the "UK in Azerbaijan" trade and investment forum in London March 8.

The forum was organized with the support of the Middle East Association and the International Bank of Azerbaijan.

The agency started working in February 2010 and its main purpose is to achieve from alternative sources of energy 1,000 megawatts of energy production by 2015 and 2,500 megawatts by 2020.

This represents about 20-25 percent of the total predicted energy production in 2020. A use of thermal, solar, wind and water energy resources is planned.

"Now, strategic planning is carried out. The proper management of the system is synced wit operations of other state agencies," Badalov said.
