South Korean companies LG and Hyundai have launched a number of technological units at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries (TCOR), Trend reports with reference to Turkmengaz State Concern.

The projects are aimed at the annual production of 250,000 tons of liquefied gas, 230,000 tons of low-octane light gasoline, about 480,000 tons of high-octane gasoline A-92, A-95 and A-98, two million tons of fuel oil, one million tons of gasoline raw materials and vacuum gas oil, and 900,000 tons of tar.

“The cost of the project amounted to $5 billion,” the report says.

The TCOR, which includes two oil refineries in the cities of Turkmenbashi and Seydi, processes more than 10 million tons of hydrocarbons per year.

The products are exported to Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine, the UAE and Switzerland. Turkmenistan plans to increase the capacity of the oil refining industry to 20 million tons of oil in 2020, increasing these figures to 22 million tons in 2025 and to 30 million tons in 2030.
