Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend / European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) considers Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline as a safe project for the environment, said EBRD's General Banker, Jane Patrick Marguet, on 6 June at conference "Caspian Oil and Gas 2007" in Baku.
"In our opinion, BTC pipeline is a safe project which directly links with the protection of the environment," he said.
The EBRD considers that BTC is an effective project.
"We held analysis of tariff payments for the transportation of oil via the pipeline. Three countries may expect several billions of dollars from these operations," Marguet said.
According to him, the section of BTC pipeline in Azerbaijan is longer than section in Georgia, but Georgia may receive huge finances from tariff payments.
"It needs to take into consideration that there are many other advantages for Azerbaijan, including direct production of oil. In addition, Georgia is an available transit country and this factor should be taken into consideration," EBRD Banker said.
