Cargo shipment data via Turkish Izmir port announced

The volume cargo transshipment through the Turkish Izmir port amounted to 4.9 million tons from January through July 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of Turkey told Trend.

During the specified period, ships flying the Turkish flag handled 251,689 tons of goods via Izmir port, while ships flying the flags of other countries – 4.6 million tons, said the ministry.

The ministry noted that 30,914 tons of cargo passed through the Izmir port over the mentioned period.

The volume of cargo transshipment through the country’s ports over the mentioned period made up over 209.8 million tons.

At the same time, 16.9 million tons of cargo were moved by ships flying the Turkish flag, the ministry noted.

Over the specifying period, the volume of cargo shipment via the Turkish ports by ships flying their countries’ flags surpassed 8 million tons. Meanwhile, ships flying the flags of other countries handled more than 184.8 million tons.

The ministry added that 41.8 million tons of goods were moved through Turkey’s ports over the reporting period.

In July 2020, the volume of cargo transshipment via the country’s ports amounted to 30.2 million tons. In this month, over 2.6 million tons of goods were handled by ships flying the Turkish flag.

At the same time, the volume of cargo shipment through the Turkish ports by ships flying the flags of their countries exceeded 1 million tons, and by ships flying the flags of other countries – 26.5 million tons.

Over 5.6 million tons of goods were shipped in transit through the ports of Turkey in July of this year.
