Cargo movements in Iran’s Chabahar port down

The volume of cargo loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province (southeastern Iran) decreased by 57 percent in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21 through April 20, 2021), compared to the same month last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

According to the statistics, a total of 143,000 tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in this port in the first month. So, 1,870 tons of cargo were loaded and 141,000 tons were unloaded.

“In addition, 165 tons of cargo were exported and 75,300 tons were imported through the Chabahar port over the reporting month,” the statistics said.

At the same time, 260 tons of cargo were loaded and 5,640 tons were unloaded in the port for transit, the statistics said.

According to the statistics, 60,500 tons of cargo were unloaded in the Chabahar port for cabotage within the first month.

During the mentioned month, 1,440 tons of cargo were loaded in the port for other purposes, the statistics said.

“So, 68,800 tons of essential products, 1,890 tons of equipment, vehicles, and spare parts were loaded and unloaded in the Chabahar port in the 1st month of the current Iranian year,” the statistics said.

Moreover, 206 tons of leather products, clothing, fibers, paper and wood materials, 340 tons of small and assorted products, 11,500 tons of container products, and 60,500 tons of crude oil and oil products were loaded and unloaded in Chabahar port, according to the statistics.

As reported, more than 11 million tons of cargo were loaded and unloaded in Iranian ports in the first month of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 14.4 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.
