TEHRAN, Iran, June 22. The construction of the Tehran-Qom-Isfahan high speed railway is ongoing, said Managing Director of the Construction and Development of Transportation Infrastructures Company Kheirollah Khademi, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"The construction is underway at different sections of the 150 kilometers railway route," he said.
Khademi pointed out that over 1,000 people are busy working on the construction.
He said that while the project did get financial backing, it needs more financial aid from Iran's Plan and Budget Organization and Supreme Economic Coordination Council.
The Tehran–Qom–Isfahan high speed railway is to be the first of its kind in Iran. The construction kicked off in 2015, as Iran signed a contract with China Railway Group Limited to build the railway.
