President of Kyrgyztsan Almazbek Atambaev signed the Law "On ratification of the credit agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on the project "Rehabilitation of the Water Supply and Sanitation System in Uzgen" Oct.31.
Atambaev also approved a grant agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EBRD on an investment grant from the European Union provided under the project "Rehabilitation of the Water Supply and Sanitation System in Uzgen".
The city of Uzgen will receive loans of up to $ 2.75 million each from the EBRD and EIB, and an investment grant from the EU’s IFCA of $ 5.5 million.
The project aims to assist in the upgrade and expansion of the water supply and sewerage system in Uzgen by financing capital investments; provision of consulting services for the preparation and implementation of these investments; providing consulting services for the preparation and implementation of the Corporate Development Program, social support and stakeholder participation.
The law enters into force ten days after the day of its official publication.
The EBRD carried out 160 projects in Kyrgyzstan, the current portfolio of projects -249 million euros and the EBRD's total investments is at the level of 654 million euros.
