BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 27

By Klavdiya Romakayeva - Trend:

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan improved its forecast for the growth of the gross domestic product of Uzbekistan to 5.8 percent - 6.8 percent, Trend reports referring to the Central Bank of Uzbekistan (CBU).

According to the CBU, other macro indicators - consumption, investment, exports, and imports - are expected to grow faster.

At the same time, CBU’s forecast for credit investments was reduced from 20-22 percent to 16-20 percent, while the budget deficit and inflation forecasts remained unchanged.

The Central Bank itself also takes into account the risks and uncertainties due to COVID-19, which can still have an impact on the economy of Uzbekistan as a whole.

Earlier State Statistics Committee reported that Uzbekistan's GDP in the first half of the year grew by 6.2 percent.

At the same time, the provision of services increased by 18.3 percent, freight transportation by 14.1 percent, retail trade by 9 percent, and industry by 8.5 percent. At the same time, there was modest growth in construction (0.1 percent) and agriculture (1.8 percent).
