Iranian nuclear chief to participate in IAEA`s annual session

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi will participate at the 58th Annual Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which is set for 16-22 in September in Vienna, Fars news agency reported.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Ali Akbar Salehi will participate at the 58th Annual Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) which is set for 16-22 in September in Vienna, Fars news agency reported.

According to the report, heads of the Atomic Energy Organizations of the member countries will make speeches during the meeting.

On September 6, Iranian media outlets quoted Salehi as saying Iran is ready to discuss the nuclear issue with West and solve the dispute a in win-win approach.

On September 5 Iranian President Hassan Rouhani ordered Iran's Foreign Ministry to take the responsibility for nuclear negotiations with both IAEA and P5+1, however, Salehi said that AEOI will be responsible for nuclear negotiations with IAEA in the upcoming meeting scheduled for Sep. 27.

Salehi also added that Iran and IAEA agreed to appoint an Iranian ambassador to the Agency. "I was Iran's last ambassador to the IAEA (1998-2003) and after me, Iran has only had permanent representative in IAEA", Salehi said.

He said that AEOI and Iran's Foreign Ministry discussed the issue of appointing an ambassador to IAEA and agreed that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran will choose a person for this post.

Reza Najafi replaced Ali Asghar Soltaneih as Iran's representative in IAEA on Aug.27. Soltanieh served for 7.5 years as Iran's representative in IAEA during Ahmadinejad's presidency.
