Europeans eye to coop with Iran's cellphone operator

Foreign investors including those from Europe are interested to cooperate with Iran’s cellophane operators, Abbas Nourbakhsh, deputy head of the Mobile Telecommunication Company of Iran (MCI), said, IRNA news agency reported Aug. 20.
 
The investors have expressed readiness to cooperate with MCI, Nourbakhsh said, adding that the parties are studying the issue.
 
The MCI, also known under its brand name Hamrahe Aval (The First Operator), is the first and largest mobile operator in Iran.
 
The MCI is a subsidiary of the Telecommunication Company of Iran and has approximately 17 million post-paid and 49 million prepaid subscribers.
 
Nourbakhsh also said that if foreign investors buy the company’s shares, grounds will be prepared for presence of MCI in other countries.
