Iran’s inflation rate at 6.8%

Iran’s point-to-point inflation rate reached 6.8 percent in the 12-month period leading to the last Iranian calendar month, which coincided with a period from Feb. 19 to Mar. 20, 2017, the Statistical Center of Iran announced.

The overall index in the said month reached 240.7 showing a 1-percent growth as compared to the previous month.

The index volume has risen by 8 percent as compared to the corresponding period a year ago, Mehr news agency reported March 21.

Percentage of change in the total index of inflation in the 12-month period leading to the mentioned month was 6.8 percent as compared to the same period last year.

In that month, index of food, beverages and tobacco rose 291.9 revealing a 3.4-percent increase compared to the previous month.

Index of food, beverages and tobacco also grew by 12.8 percent compared with the same month last year. Percentage change in the same group during the 12 months leading to the said month was 7.6 percent as compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the meantime, the index for main food group was 290.1 indicating a 3.6-percent growth as compared to the previous month and a 12.9-percent rise in comparison to the same period last year. The 12-month inflation rate in the same group stood at 7.4 percent.

Meanwhile, the non-food goods and services experienced an index of 223.1 in the said month, showing a 0.1-percent downfall as compared to the previous month and a 6-percent growth as compared to the same period a year ago. The inflation rate for the same group in the 12-month period stood at 6.4 percent.
