The number of Iranian exporters over the last fiscal year (ended on March 20) has increased by 37 percent and stood at 11,000.

Mojtaba Khosrowtaj, the head of Iran Trade Promotion Organization, has said that the number of exporters in the preceding year was 2,800, Eghtesad online reported.

The official added that the country, in order to hit its goal of boosting exports by 22 percent, needs to increase the number of exporters by 20 percent.

However, Iran experienced a trade deficit of $7 billion over the last fiscal year. Khosrowtaj earlier said that the country’s non-oil exports accounted to $47 billion in the 12-month period based on the early estimates.

Meanwhile, the country imported $54 billion worth of various goods in the last fiscal year, which is $10 billion more compared to the preceding year.
