One month extension agreement with IAEA indicates Iran's goodwill - official

TEHRAN, Iran, May.25

Trend:

The one-month extension agreement with the IAEA was an indication of goodwill from Iran, said the Iranian government spokesperson.

After reviews and evaluations from the process of negotiations, the National Security Council has reached the result that negotiations are in the progressive route and to show goodwill from the Iranian side it agreed with a one-month extension between Iran and the IAEA, said Ali Rabiei, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"This constructive action indicates Iran is determined to reach a result faster in negotiations with the IAEA, P4+1 sides, and also the US. The only proper response to this goodwill is to hasten negotiation and urgent end of unilateral sanctions and return of all sides to their JCPOA commitments and the 2231 resolution," he added.

"We would not elaborate on the detail as the negotiations are still ongoing, the general agreements about basic disagreements have been done and in regard to lifting sanctions we have reached an agreement in most cases, we are optimistic considering the process of negotiations for solving the remaining cases," Rabiei noted.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on Monday that it has agreed with Iran to extend its monitoring agreement by one month. The agreement allows the watchdog to maintain its monitoring equipment at Iranian nuclear sites, but Iran will keep the tapes until the JCPOA with world powers is restored and United States sanctions are lifted.
