A large explosion Friday rocked a village in southern Lebanon, a Lebanese security source said, DPA reported.

The explosion took place inside the village of Shehabiyyah near the border with Israel.

Lebanese media reported that a fire erupted inside one of the houses and then sounds of explosions were heard.

Unconfirmed reports said the explosion went off at a house that is believed to be an arms depot for the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah.

Lebanese army troops are said to have cordoned off all areas leading to the village.

Further details were not immediately available.
