Number of labor migrants from Turkey to Georgia shows rise

The number of job seekers from Turkey in Georgia grew in the past nine months of 2020, the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) told Trend.

From January through September 2020, the number of Turkish citizens who visited Georgia through İŞKUR to find work rose by 4.9 percent compared to the same period in 2019. In total, 64 Turkish citizens visited the country via İŞKUR over the reporting period.

Meanwhile, 7,600 Turkish citizens went abroad via İŞKUR over the reporting period, which is 46.7 percent less compared to the same period in 2019.

In September 2020, 91,130 citizens were provided with jobs through this agency in Turkey. Some 32.9 percent of the total number of employed citizens accounted for women and 67.1 percent for men.

Over the reporting month, 97.4 percent of the total number of citizens provided with jobs accounted for the private sector. The number of unemployed in Turkey amounted to over 3.1 million people, 46.7 percent of whom are women, and 53.3 percent are men.
