By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Some Iranian exporters export goods to Russia via Azerbaijan due to the fact that Azerbaijan is exempted from paying export taxes to Russia, Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister Abdolmehdi Bakhshandeh said.

Bakhshandeh said Iranian exporters should pay a 20-percent tax for exporting goods to Russia, so they prefer to export goods to Russia via Azerbaijan, Iran's Fars news agency reported on Dec. 20.

The problem of banking transactions between Iran and Russia has hampered the bilateral trade, he noted. Meanwhile, the two countries have not yet finalized customs cooperation deals, he added.

Iran's Agricultural Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said on Dec. 15 that preparations have been made for exporting dairy products and other food stuff to Russia.

"The ministry will help private companies to increase their exports to Moscow," he said.

Russia has issued licenses for 18 Iranian companies to export fisheries to Moscow.

The Head of Iran Fisheries Organization Hasan Salehi said on Dec. 8 that Iran will send the first consignment of fisheries to Russia in the next 20 days.

"The consignment is consisted of trout and shrimp," he said.
