By Ilkin Izzet - Trend:

A number of office duties in the military units of the Armed Forces and other institutions that are subordinate to the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry will be gradually entrusted to civilians, the spokesperson of the ministry, Lieutenant-Colonel Vagif Dargahli told Trend on Jan.17.

The reforms carried out in the country's Armed Forces allow for improvement to the system and management of defense, and to further enhance the army's combat readiness, according to Dargahli.

Nevertheless, the army will be exempt from execution of additional functions that are not peculiar to it, including a variety of tasks in the fields of economy, security and service orders, the spokesperson said. This will ensure the fullest participation of personnel in military training.

"To this end, civilians are involved in the implementation of a number of office duties, and it is planned to resolve these issues in stages in the future," Dargahli said.
