There is a need to increase the number of Azerbaijani citizens working in international organisations, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said on March 17 at the first Congress of Azerbaijanis working in international organisations.

"Azerbaijani citizens working in such organisations must communicate with each other," he said.

"It is necessary to create a flexible system," he said. "The exchange of information and coordination may be the first objective. It is also necessary to put forward initiatives on regional and trans-regional projects in accordance with the interests of Azerbaijan and to create opportunities for their realisation in Azerbaijan."

"It is necessary for Azerbaijan as the country is being strengthened and developed," he said. "Its international prestige is growing."

Asimov also stressed the existence of certain forces directed against Azerbaijan, one of which is Armenian propaganda.

"Azerbaijan strongly resists this provocation," he said. "While taking advantage of all opportunities, the country is telling the world community about its fair position."
