Kazakhstan plans to dig a navigation canal in the south-east of the northern part of the Caspian Sea, Kazinform reported with the reference to TenizService company's representatives.
TenizService company, which is owned by Kazakh National Oil and Gas Company KazMunaiGas took part in the public hearings in the city of Atyrau where goods transportation routes through the Caspian Sea were discussed.
The canal will be 50 kilometers long and 5 meters deep. A mooring complex will be built near Kazakh city of Prorva where different types of goods will be loaded and unloaded.
The project will be realized in 2013-2015 and will be aimed at the companies developing such onshore and offshore fields as Kashagan, Satpayev, Zhambyl and Tengiz.
The potential partners on the project are the North Caspian Operating Company, Tengizchevroil and KazMunaiGas.
The assessment of the project's environmental impact will be discussed in fall.
