Heavy snow in Iran has blocked roads leading to 315 villages in the country's Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari and Kurdistan provinces, Mehr news agency reported.

In some areas the snow height reached 2 meters, according to the report.

Snowfall has been continuing in Iran's 12 provinces since Dec. 31. Heavy snow has caused problems on the roads in Tehran, Kurdistan, Fars, Lorestan, Kermanshah, West Azerbaijan, Isfahan, Qazvin, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces.

Snow removal and rescue works are underway.

Snowfall will continue in several provinces for 24 hours, ISNA reported on Jan. 2.

Rescuers of the Iranian Red Crescent Society are involved in the snow removal and provision of aid to people who suffered from the natural disaster.
