A bomb exploded Saturday at a metro station in the Egyptian capital of Cairo, killing at least one person and wounding eight others, a local news outlet said.

According to the report, the victim of the attack was a police officer.

The explosion allegedly wounded four other police officers, media said. The station has been put on lockdown.

Terror attacks against law enforcement officials in Egypt have grown increasingly common following the ouster of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi in the summer of 2013.
