Azerbaijan, Baku, 13 March / Trend corr. A.Gafarov / A landslide occurred at a mass burial in Guba region of Azerbaijan on 12 March. As a result, several sq.m was affected with the bodies still buried.
Gahraman Agayev, the head of the expedition group of the Ethnography and Archeology Institute at the Azerbaijani National Science Academy stated to Trend that he would visit the territory on 13 March.
Agayev stated that the archeological digs in the region were suspended due to a severe winter. The group will continue their expedition in due course.
The mass burial grave was found in Guba at the beginning of April during the construction of a stadium. Immediately after the discovery, an expositional group was established which disclosed that the grave was the result of genocide committed by the Armenians in Guba in 1918. Up to now the bodies of 160 people have been recovered
