New Political Party’s Name Still to be Determined

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 July / corr. Trend E.Babayev / Some organizational issues, connected with the establishment new political party of Azerbaijan, have been completed. "Currently, work is being done to select a name for a political organization. We chose three names and the name of the party will be selected among them," Aydin Guliyev, a member of Organizational Committee including 11 people, which was formed to establish a new party, told Trend on 10 July.

Earlier, Guliyev was a member of the Azerbaijani Democratic Party (ADP), which was led by Rasul Guliyev, ex-speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament. He was the secretary and a member of the Supreme Majlis. R.Guliyev, and his supporters left the party and established their Open Society Party (OSP) at the beginning of 2007. A.Guliyev was an adviser to R.Guliyev, the leader of the OSP, whilst he left his position and the party in September 2007.

Guliyev said that the Organizational Committee would assemble and determine a name of a political party soon. "A political course of the party is still to be defined. I can only state it will not be radical," Guliyev said. The party will be publicized until the elections. Guliyev noted that new members did not join the Organizational Committee.
