“About 17,000 of local observers were registered to follow the 6 November parliamentary elections,” Irada Hajiyeva, the chief of the Legal Division of the Central Election Committee (CEC), told Trend. She said that 16,537 ordinary observers and 135 observers with special permission were registered.

It should be mentioned that the ban on participation of nongovernmental organization in observation was removed by the Milli Majlis (Parliament) and the CEC was due to register them. The CEC has not made a decision on prolongation of the registration for NGOs. According to Hajiyeva, the Committee must make such decision soon. She stressed that though it should not long time before the elections, they would not have difficulties in registration of NGOs.
