BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. The export of non-oil products from Sarakhs Shushtari Customs of Razavi Khorasan province, located in northeastern Iran, increased by 37 percent in value terms and 47 percent in weight terms in the 1st month of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through April 2024) compared to the same month of last year, director general of Sarakhs Customs Administration of Iran, Ali Akbar Kiyani said, Trend reports.
According to him, 30,000 tons of non-oil products worth about $7.8 million were exported from Sarakhs Shushtari customs in the first month.
Kiyani added that this customs office mainly exported construction materials, food, and petrochemical products.
The official stated that 84,000 tons of products were transported from Russia and Central Asian countries (Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) in the direction of India, China, Pakistan, and the UAE in one month. The transit of products increased by 360 percent compared to the same month last year.
Kiyani noted that mainly legume products, sulfur, and fuel derivatives are exported.
To note, Sarakhs Shushtari Customs is located on the border of Iran and Turkmenistan. The customs office plays a key role in Iran's trade with Central Asian countries.
