Azerbaijan Democratic Party Establishes New Branches

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr I. Alizadeh / Aydin Guliyev, a member of the Congress Organizing Committee at the Azerbaijani Democratic Party (ADP) headed by Rasul Guliyev, informed that local branches have been established in 15 regions of the country within the framework of the preparations for the congress. He noted that the regions had no local organizations.

Guliyev added that conferences have been held in 43 regions so far. The conferences will be held in 60 region organizations by 10 April. The congress will be held on 14 April.

The oppositional ADP was founded by Sardar Jalaloghlu in 1991. Rasul Guliyev, the Ex-speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, headed the Party in 2000. At present Guliyev is in emigration. The ADP split up into two parts in February, 2007 uniting the supporters of Jalaloglu in one party and the supporters of Guliyev in another. The both parties claim at the name of ADP.
