Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan is to identify grain stock in the country which is very significant for food security, Heydar Babayev, Minister of economic Development of Azerbaijan, stated.
"There is not much time left for harvesting," the Minister said. The harvest season begins from June (2.3mln or 2.4mln tons) in 2008.
Babayev denied information regarding a grain deficit in Azerbaijan. "We have an ample stock of grain, imported and local," the Minister noted.
According to Babayev, the Government will prevent any possible deficit. However, the Minister approved the increase in price of bread in the country. "The price for grain produced in the country is farmed by different farmers," Babayev stated. "We believe that the Government should monitor the grain prices and take measures," Babayev added.
