For the first time, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) started to build a technological platform, the company said. The purpose of building a new platform is to maintain a stable level of production on the Guneshli field, developed independently by SOCAR. Starting this platform is scheduled for 2011.
This platform will be installed on the Guneshli field in depth of 90-92 meters, in 50 meters from the existing platform Guneshli-4. The platform will be connected by pedestrian bridge. According to the project, social infrastructure - residential block, a dining room, a spare rig and a helipad will be common to both platforms.
The topsides of the new platform will be used for technical needs. A new gaslift station, consisting of eight machines, will be built on it. With this station, the gas under pressure of 125 atmospheres will be pumped into reservoirs.
Main production on this field will be carried out by gas lift method. Project of hydraulic bearing for the new platform was prepared by the Scientific Research and Design Institute of SOCAR.
The platform will consist of two blocks. The first block of 101 meters in height and weighing 2,100 tons will be built at Deep Water Jacket Plant named after Heydar Aliyev. The construction of this block will be completed by the end of this year, after which it will be sent to the sea for installation.
Weight of the second block is 3,000 tons. Its construction will be carried out by Oil and Gas Construction Trust on the basis of the unused bearing block Guneshli-20.
The two blocks are planned to be sent to the sea and installed in January-February 2010. Topsides - compressor station and the entire industrial infrastructure will be designed and manufactured abroad.
