Investing in Azerbaijan's economy increased

Nearly 3766.9 million manat was invested in the economy of Azerbaijan in January-June 2010, an increase of 10.9 percent from the figures of the previous year, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee reported.

Investments for repair and construction works made up 65.9 percent totaling 2483.8 million manat. Investment for the construction of production facilities totaled 1933.6 million manat, while non-production facilities totaled 1833.3 million manat.

Foreign investments with special weight of 21.3 percent amounted to 803.2 million manat, increasing by 34.4 percent as compared to the same period of the last year. The special weight of internal investments made up 78.7 percent, which increased by 5.9 percent.

The majority (71.4 percent) of domestic investment invested in state enterprises and organizations, and only 28.6 percent - in private enterprises. Of the total amount 67.6 percent were directed (2,544.6 million manat) to the development of non-oil sector and 32.4 percent (1,222.3 million manat) - oil sector

Some 44.7 percent of investments fell to industrial areas, 4.9 percent - agriculture, forestry and fisheries, 4.2 percent - trade, 23.6 percent - transport and warehousing, 1.7 percent - construction, 1. 2 percent - information and communications, 1.5 percent - health care, 0.9 percent - education, 8.4 percent - real estate transactions (of which 8.3 percent - housing), 3 percent - sports & recreation and arts, 2.1 percent - governance, 0.1 percent - financial and insurance activities, 2 percent - organization of accommodation and catering, 1.1 percent - education, 0.9 percent - administrative and support services and 0.5 percent -  other spheres.

About 1.158.8 million of 3.549mln manat provided for 2010 were directed to the construction of facilities, funding of which is realized at the expense of budget funds.

Major sources of investing were funds of enterprises and organizations (2033.6mln manat with special weight of 54%), budget funds (1236.6mln manat, 32.8%), non-budgetary funds (195.1mln manat, 5.2%), bank credits (165.4mln manat, 4.4%), community funds (132.3mln, 3.5%) and other funds (3.9mln, 0.1%).

The official exchange rate is 0.8037 manat to $1 July 15.
