Azerbaijani processing centre increases number of issued cards by 4.9 percent

The number of active cards served by Azerbaijani processing center Milli Kart amounted to 170,000 units in Jan.-June 2011. The figure increased by 4.9 percent compared to late 2010, the processing center said.

The number of ATMs amounted to 294 units in Jan.-June, increasing by 1.4 percent.
The number of POS-terminals increased from 1,200 to 2,333 units.

About 11 banks are served in the system of Milli Kart. As of Jan.-June, eight banks emit VISA cards compared to five banks as of late 2010. The number of banks, emitting MasterCard, increased from one to five banks. The number of banks, emitting local cards, increased from three to five units. The number of banks emitting MasterCard and VISA cards increased from three to four banks.

Milli Kart was established July 14, 2006 after 18 commercial banks redeemed a processing center of card payments from the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. At present, the minimum participation of banks in the capital center is one percent, and maximal - 10 percent.

The founders of the center are Atabank, Demirbank, AzerTurkbank, Bank of Baku, Azerbaijan Senayye Bankasi, Debutbank, Amrahbank, Xalq Bank, Credo Bank, Access Bank, ParaBank, RabitaBank, Bank Respublika, Bank Standard, Texnika Bank, Turan Bank, UniBank and Zamin Bank .

The official exchange rate is 0.7866 manat to $1.
