Turkmenistan ratifies trade agreement with Ukraine

The Turkmen Parliament has ratified the Agreement on long-term trade and economic cooperation with Ukraine, an official Turkmen source reported.

The agreement was signed in September 2011 during Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich's official visit to Ashgabat.

Ukrainian companies are represented on the Turkmen market in the energy, construction of urban infrastructure and other important sectors of the economy.

Turkmenistan has registered 29 enterprises using Ukrainian capital. Some 63 projects worth over $2 billion have been, or are currently being carried out in the country.

Last year as a result of high-level talks in Ashgabat there was the signing of bilateral documents which include; An agreement between the governments of Turkmenistan and Ukraine on cooperation in education; A programme of cultural cooperation between the Turkmen Ministry of Culture and Broadcasting and the Ukrainian Culture Ministry for 2012-2014; A cooperation agreement between the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and finally a programme of cooperation between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Ukraine for 2012.
