Tajikistan reports rise in manufacturing industry's output

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 26. The production value in Tajikistan's manufacturing industry reached 20.3 billion somoni ($1.9 billion) from January through September 2024, which is a 10 percent increase compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.

According to the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, of this total, 7.7 billion somoni ($723.3 million) was generated from food products, including beverages and tobacco. Textile and garment production contributed 2.3 billion somoni ($216 million).

Additionally, the production of wood and paper products, along with publishing activities, amounted to 555.7 million somoni ($52.2 million). The petroleum products sector produced 46.7 million somoni ($4.3 million), while chemical production reached 425 million somoni ($39.9 million).

Non-metallic mineral products accounted for 2.9 billion somoni ($272.4 million), and metallurgy, including finished metal products, contributed 5.4 billion somoni ($507.3 million).

During the period under review, the production volume of food products, along with beverages and tobacco, increased by 9.2 percent. This growth was driven by a significant rise in the production of pasta (up 25.9 percent), confectionery (up 30.4 percent), and non-alcoholic beverages (up 16.7 percent).

In total, industrial enterprises in Tajikistan produced goods worth 36.3 billion somoni (3.4 billion) during the nine months of 2024, which is a 15.3 percent increase year-on-year.
